One Roach Might Mean More
While a single roach doesn’t always mean infestation, it’s often a warning sign. Cockroaches are nocturnal & they avoid light.
If you’re seeing one during the day, it might indicate that…
- There are more hidden nearby
- Their nest is overcrowded
- They’re running out of food or water
Even a single female roach that enters your home can lay dozens of eggs, quickly turning a minor issue into a major infestation.
Signs There May Be More Roaches
To figure out if there’s more than one roach, look for these signs…
- Droppings (small, dark specks or smears)
- Egg cases (called oothecae)
- A musty or oily odor
- Shed skins or dead roaches
- Smear marks along baseboards or walls
If you notice any of these signs, there’s a good chance more roaches are hiding out of sight.
What to Do If You See One Roach
What you can do when you see a roach…
- Kill the roach and dispose of it properly
- Clean the area where you found it
- Inspect your home for signs of more activity
- Seal cracks & entry points
- Use bait traps or gel near warm, moist areas (under sinks, behind appliances)
- Monitor for more activity over the next few days
If you continue seeing them, it’s best to ask a professional exterminator.
