Treated wood is designed to resist termite damage, & in most cases, it works well. The wood is infused with special chemicals, usually copper-based; that either kill termites or drive them away. That’s why treated wood is often used for building decks, fences, & parts of homes that are close to the ground.
But treated wood isn’t completely termite-proof. Over time, moisture, weather, or damage can weaken the wood & reduce its protection. If the treatment fades or the wood becomes soft & damp, termites might still try to chew through it, especially if there are no other food sources nearby.
